Gardai across Donegal are to pay a special tribute to their tragic colleague Detective Garda Colm Horkan.
The four district offices of the force in the county at Letterkenny, Buncrana, Milford and Ballyshannon will all take part in a minute’s silence outside their respective stations tomorrow at noon.
All available officers have been requested to be at their district offices and will be called to attention to coincide with the late Garda Horkan’s funeral.
He is to be buried in his hometown of Charlestown in Co Mayo.
Members of the various ‘blue light’ emergency services have also been invited to attend the tributes across Donegal’s divisional stations.
Garda Horkan, aged 49, died when he was shot with his own gun on Wednesday night in Castlerea, Co Roscommon.
A mechanic, Stephen Silver, aged 43, has since been charged with his murder.
The late Garda Horkan is to be given a full state funeral.
He was the 89th member of An Garda Siochana to die while serving in the line of duty.
