The Lurgybrack NS Class of 2020 has been treated to a special farewell video today to mark their ‘graduation’ from primary school.
The video features the premiere of a song, ‘Time to Fly’, performed by past pupil and graduate, Jason Friel, and ‘The Music that we Made’, in memory of past pupil and graduate, Fiona Barron, both written by teacher Ms Carr.
The music is played alongside a touching poem performed by Phriomhoide, Mr. Annraoi Cheevers, Deputy Principal and Sixth Class Teachers, Ms D Doherty, Mr D Winston and Ms K Browne.
The video was launched as a surprise addition to the sixth class’ graduation day. Students will also be receiving their certs and hoodies at a drive-in grad this evening at the school.
“It is always sad to say goodbye, and even harder when you don’t get the chance to do it properly,” wrote Ms Carr.
The message to the pupils is “Do not dwell on what you missed in school during the Lockdown. Instead, think of this time as the time you became even more caring, hard-working, enlightened, responsible and kind, young adults. You are fortunate to have a true understanding of the importance of time. Spend it wisely, bake, walk, run, draw, sing, dance, play and always always be true to yourselves. Class of 2020, be as proud of yourselves as we are of you. God bless you on your onward journey, our doors are always open to you. Enjoy the flight! From all in Lurgybrack.”
