Two more people have died from Covid-19, the Department of Health has confirmed.
A further 13 cases of the virus has also been confirmed.
This now brings the number of deaths here to 1,714.
There is now a total of 25,368 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ireland.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan revealed that there has been a small number of travel-related cases, adding that the advice in place remains that non-essential travel should still be avoided.
He said: “The importance of people exercising their own judgement and taking personal responsibility in protecting themselves and others cannot be overstated at this crucial point in the pandemic.”
There was one further coronavirus-related death recorded in Northern Ireland, bringing the death toll there to 544.
Three new confirmed cases were also reported, bringing the total cases in the North to 4,866.
The Cabinet met today to discuss recommendations from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) on Phase 3 of the easing of coronavirus restrictions.
