Letterkenny man Paul Doherty is celebrating another achievement today as he donates the proceeds of his fundraising cycle to Pieta House.
The 27-year-old hospital porter looped around the unforgiving hills of Donegal on a 300km cycle last Saturday.
The gruelling 12 hour challenge generated €5,205 for Pieta House, which Paul was proud to donate to fund life-changing local services today.
Paul said: “I’ve been informed from Pieta House themselves that this money will be enough to give between 5 and 6 young people in the North West the treatment they need and to help them through the struggles which may be affecting them.
“Mental health problems are so common right now and even I myself can struggle from time to time so it means the absolute world to know this money will help someone.”
Paul has thanked his large support crew and every person who donated and made the journey worth it.
He added: “I’m absolutely over the moon with the help and support I’ve received in lead up to and during Saturday’s challenge.
“Thanks so much again to everyone who donated and anyone who helped out in any way, I could not have achieved this without you. What an enjoyable day.”
It’s “over and out for now”, but the roads will be calling Paul back out on his bike again soon.
