Donegal may be hit by torrential downpours this evening as a Status Yellow weather warning takes effect.
Met Eireann issued the warning for Donegal and 22 other counties from midday until 11pm tonight (Sunday).
After a sunny start to the day, there is a risk of thunderstorms, hail and localised flooding as the weather breaks.
Temperatures will remain warm with highs of 17 to 22 or locally 23 degrees, in light easterly or variable breezes.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with the chance of an isolated shower. Patches of mist and fog may develop. Met Eireann has forecast temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees as winds fall calm.
The pollen count remains high today and Monday, but is set to reduce as showers fall.
More thundery downpours are forecast for northern counties on Monday. The forecast is as follows: “Monday will have a mix of bright or sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers will turn heavy in the afternoon with a risk of thundery downpours. Maximum temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in light southeast or variable breezes.”
