The Minister for Finance says the Pandemic Unemployment Payment will continue beyond the original planned end date of 8 June.
Paschal Donohoe had originally planned to stop the €350 payment on this date.
However, a short time ago he indicated the payments will continue.
He did not put a timeframe on when the payments will stop or be reduced.
He added there are some issues in relation to the payment the Government will have to consider, and it would decide on the coming days how long it will continue and how it might change.
Mr Donohoe did not comment on the Government’s 70/30 scheme which sees employers pay 30% of employees’ wages with the Government paying the balance.
More than 20,000 people across Donegal are on emergency payments since the pandemic struck.
