MANAGEMENT at the Gartan Estate have been forced to restrict access due to unsafe behaviour and vandalism over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Beaming Bank Holiday sunshine saw big numbers throng to the popular amenity.
The 87-acre woodland estate, overlooking the stunning Gartan Lough, also houses, the Gartan Outdoor Education and Training Centre.
Gartan Estate is popular among locals and also visitors to the area.
However, in light of incidents at the weekend, management of the estate – who say they are now fearful of a serious incident – have taken immediate action.
“Reports of unsafe behaviour on Gartan Lake have been submitted to management over the weekend, as well as some incidents of vandalism, they explained.
“In order to protect the safety of everyone, management has been left with no option but to restrict access to the Gartan Estate with immediate effect.
“Please observe the signage that has been put in place and be aware that access to Gartan Lough via the Gartan Estate is strictly prohibited.
“Management regret having to put these restrictions in place, but are mindful of the potential of possible accidents that could result in serious injuries or loss of life.”
