A number of fire tenders are battling a raging blaze which has broken out at a historic landmark in Rathmullan in the past hour.
The fire at Macamish Fort is visible from miles around.
The fort is owned by the Pilkington family who run a glass company and it is understood it is used as a private residence.
It was originally used during the Napoleanic War and was completed in 1812.
The fire broke out this afternoon and the flames are visible for miles, right across Lough Swilly.
The house is surrounded by large swathes of gorse and emergency services are attempting to bring the fire under control.
Units from Letterkenny and Milford attended the scene.
There are no reports of injuries at this time.
More to follow.
