IRELAND’S Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, has told the government that there should not be a change to the two-metre rule for physical distancing.
Dr Holohan met with Government ministers this afternoon.
Several ministers are believed to have been keen to alter the rule from two metres to one, citing a number of businesses who expressed concern about their ability to reopen.
Minster of State for Disability Finian McGrath asked if Dr Holohan would consider a distance of 1.5 metres.
However, Dr Holohan wad adamant that the measure should not be changed at this time. The CMO added that the measures were under a constant review.
