The Leaving Cert Class of 2019-20 at Coláiste Cholmcille Ballyshannon was treated to a bumper graduation ceremony last night which was premiered online.
Nobody would have expected the year to end in this way, with schools closed, final exams postponed, and no end of year ceremonies and goodbyes.
But staff at Coláiste Cholmcille worked over recent weeks to create a 90 minute long video for the students to cherish forever.

The graduation video is a mix of emotional, nostalgic, hopeful and entertaining moments from students and staff alike, with a celebrity segment at the end featuring some famous faces such as Donegal Captain Michael Murphy, singer Daniel O Donnell, Emer Gallagher Donegal Ladies and the Ombudsman for Children Dr.Niall Muldoon.
The video brought the school community together again, virtually, to listen to music, speeches and messages to mark the end of an era.
The theme of the graduation was: ‘In a world where you can be anything be kind.’ This message has been given a permanent place in the corridors of the school as a new mural was painted by a member of the caretaking staff dedicated to the class of 2020. Students will be welcomed back to the school to sign the artwork when it is safe to do so.
