A Donegal Garda will need to have more than a spring in his step when he takes on a major challenge in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation.
Kieran Langan, who is based at Milford Garda Station, is aiming to walk a staggering 100,000 steps in just 24 hours.
For maths buffs, that’s the equivalent of 80 kilometres or two marathons!
The event takes place on Saturday, May 23rd.
Kieran said he has been inspired by the amount of people partaking in fundraising events for numerous charities over the last few weeks.
He said “This walking challenge is in aid of Make-A-Wish Ireland as I know there are 90 children scheduled to have their wishes granted this year and because of Covid-19 they will be waiting a little longer. I want to help by raising much-needed funds to help grant these wishes.”
The challenge will commence at 12am at Milford Garda Station, where he is currently stationed.
He added “I hope to get started at 5am just before sunrise. My hope is that friends and family from all over who cannot share in the experience with me on the day will get involved in their own area (whilst abiding by government guidelines and social distancing), by hitting a quota of steps on the day which they decide themselves. Anybody who wishes to complete the 100,000 steps on the day, please do not hesitate in contacting me.
“I hope to raise enough money to grant at least one wish to a child with life-threatening medical conditions, to give them hope, strength, and joy in these uncertain times.
“Any money you can give goes towards granting wishes is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!”
