THE HSE says that it will have the capability of a three-day turnaround for Covid-19 tests from next week.
As Ireland prepares to enter the first phase of its reopening from the lockdown, HSE chief Paul Reid has said that it will have the capacity to carry out 15,000 tests a day.
Negative tests results could be communicated within two days with positive tests results conveyed within three days of the test.
Ireland’s testing process has been weighed down by issues, but work is also underway to improve the speed of contract tracing in addition to the results.
“We need to improve where we’ve been at,” Mr Reid said,
“We have faced very significant backlogs which resulted in a very poor experience for many people.”
