Councillor says supermarkets should host recycling banks

A Donegal County Councillor wants all supermarkets in Donegal to accommodate recycling banks for bottles and cans.

Cllr Martin Harley made his submissions during today’s meeting of Stranorlar Municipal Authority.

He asked the Environment section of the council to write to all supermarkets regarding providing space for bottle and can banks for the public.

He said that it is only right that they provide the space for these bins because the majority of the glass and cans is coming from the same locations.

He added “This is an ideal solution as people could dispose of their recycling while doing their shopping. There is still a lot of fly-tipping still going on in the county and this is disappointing.”
