SHAY Given has launched a new organisation, Care Given, which will help provide vital personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontline health workers battling the spread of Covid-19,
The Lifford man and Republic of Ireland soccer legend has officially launched Care Given and already over 3,500 masks have been obtained for frontline NHS staff.
Given, who was capped 134 times by Ireland during his career, is now the goalkeeping coach at Derby County.
Given and his good friend Rob Nobel rolled out the new not-for-profit organisation this week.
“All the money is going directly to getting PPE, masks, gloves and aprons for the frontline workers,” Given told TalkSport.
“Over 100 NHS workers have died already, which is scary.
“We felt that we could do something. Every pound is two face masks and if people will get behind it, it will be fantastic. We guarantee that it will all go to the frontline – these people are working to save our lives.”
Care Given has partnered with FrontLine, a company that has pin-pointed areas in need of PPE and noted Covid-19 hotspots.
