FOOTBALL supporters, starved of live action, will be able to relive some of Ireland’s iconic matches next month.
TG4 has announced that the station will be showing classic matches from the archive, starting with games form the 1990 World Cup.
‘World Cup Gold’ will air at 7.30pm each Friday from next week, May 1, starting with Ireland’s clash with England in Cagliari.
The series will include the second round tie against Romania, featuring the moment the nation held its breath as Packie Bonner saved a penalty from Daniel Timofte.
Other games in the series will include Ireland’s win over Italy at the 1994 World Cup and the 1986 quarter-final between Argentina and England.
