The hugely popular A Taste of Donegal Food Festival has announced it will not be taking place this summer in line with Government Covid-19 restrictions announced last night.
However, the organisers say they hope to be back in 2021 bigger and better than ever.
The festival has just issued a statement on its Facebook page.
The festival, which is based in Donegal own, has become a focal point for foodies from across the country and beyond with tens of thousands of people attending the event each year.
A spokesperson said “Due to the continued Covid-19 Gathering restrictions enforced until 31st August the Committee of A Taste Of Donegal Food Festival have announced this year’s Food Festival will not be taking place as planned; however we will off course be back in 2021 bigger and better.”
The organisers thanked all those involved including to Donegal County Council& Staff, Local Enterprise Office Donegal, Failte Ireland, Donegal Local Development Company LTD, Celebrity and Local Chefs; Exhibitors, Entertainers, Competition Judges & Entrants, Print & Radio Media, Donegal Civil Defence, Sponsors, Businesses and Community Groups, Marquee Hire, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Contractors.
And they added “No event is successful without the visiting public, and dedicated volunteers!
“Now more than ever take care of yourselves and your families; sincere thanks to all our frontline workers who are ensuring our community are being looked after during this pandemic especially our most vulnerable i.e. Health Care Workers, Donegal County Council, Community & Voluntary Groups, Retail & Pharmacy Staff, An Gardaí, An Post.”
Organisers have asked exhibitors who have already booked and paid deposits for this year’s event please bear wit them.
The festival’s office is closed indefinitely, however as soon as this situation changes, we will be in touch regarding your refunds.
And they added “When the restrictions are all lifted; let’s all DISCOVER, DINE and DELIGHT in Donegal Town IRELANDS FOODIEST TOWN. We look forward to welcoming you all back to celebrate A Taste of Donegal 2021.”
