Staff and patients at Letterkenny University Hospital are set to benefit from a large donation of personal hygiene products thanks to shoppers at Letterkenny Shopping Centre.
Items were proudly donated to LUH to be distributed by nurses to those who need them most.
The initiative was started in Letterkenny Shopping Centre as part of a nationwide effort to support frontline medical staff.
Donation trolleys were recently set up in the centre for shoppers to drop in personal hygiene products and help ease the shortage in hospitals. Given that family members cannot visit patients in hospitals during the pandemic, the project aims to deliver the essentials to those in need during their stay.
The project has been generously backed in Letterkenny, as well as the five other Harcourt Development Shopping Centres: Laois Shopping Centre, Galway Shopping Centre, Donaghmede Shopping Centre (Dublin), Parkway Shopping Centre (Limerick) and Longwalk Shopping Centre (Dundalk).
A spokesperson for Harcourt Development said: “The outpouring of gratitude for these amazing people has been fantastic. One small donation can go a long way to helping hospital staff and patients feel somewhat human in these difficult times.”
