Two hundred children across the Kilmacrennan area were treated to an eggciting surprise yesterday as a reward for their efforts during the Covid-19 crisis.
The Kilmacrennan Community Development Group carried out a safe egg drop yesterday to spread some eggxtra cheer through the village.
Most of the children had taken part an Easter Art Challenge – and this was their sweet prize!
Donna Kenny, one of the volunteers, said it was the best day bringing gifts and smiles to local families: “We had a great time yesterday distributing eggs to every child that entered and even a few that didn’t. In total 200 easter eggs were delivered around the village.
“We are so proud of the children here and of how they are adjusting to life in these unusual and challenging times. We wanted to give them something to make them smile and let them know that they are doing a great job.
“Thank you to everyone for sending in your pictures to keep our community spirit going.
Thanks also to DLDC‘s SICAP Programme, who kindly sponsored the eggs.
“The pictures taken below are just a few of the children who received eggs. Other photos included are of our Kilmacrennan Development Group Easter Bunnies who delivered the eggs.”
(Social distancing protocols and HSE guidelines were followed during our drop-offs and a small group of our team delivered to specific areas to ensure to minimise journeys).
