Donegal Daily is celebrating a month of poetry with the #WeAreThePoetsDonegal series, in association with Poetry Ireland.
Throughout April, we will share daily poetry by established writers from across the county.
This series invites you to take a moment to read, enjoy or share poetry in the lead up to Poetry Day Ireland on Thursday 30 April 2020.
Today’s featured poet is Averil Meehan:
These past weeks have shown us all how important family and friends are.
This poem is about a visit to my sister. Many years ago, along with our brother and friends, we often played in a small pinewood we called the Fir-trees.
About the poet:
Averil Meehan writes poetry, fiction and plays. Her writing has been published, broadcast and placed in many competitions.
