Donegal County Council has announced that car parks at local beaches will be blocked off to the public in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The restrictions, which will be in place before the weekend, will see vehicular access restricted at twelve popular beaches.
Residents who live within a 2km distance of the beaches will still be permitted to take their exercise on them while social distancing.
The restrictions have been implemented to support the public health guidance following observations and consultation with relevant authorities, Donegal County Council has said.
The beaches affected are:
- Kinnagoe
- Lisfannon
- Shrove
- Rathmullan
- Block Yard Beach, Keadue
- Magheroarty
- Magheraclogher
- Killahoey
- Mullaghdearg
- Silver Strand
- Rossnowlagh
- Bundoran
To stay safe Donegal County Council has requested that all members of the public respect the necessary restrictions currently in place and remain in their primary residence.
With the exception of those that are “cocooning” the public are permitted to exercise within 2 kilometres of their home with members of their own household.
“Do not travel more than 2km from home for exercise, remain 2m apart from each other, and only with members of their own household,” a spokesperson said.
