THE coronavirus pandemic has resulted in the postponement of the 2020 International Rules Series.
Ireland and Australia were to lock horns this year for the first time since 2017.
Two tests were to be played in November with the games in Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Croke Park, while a return series had been planned for 2022 in Australia.
However, the AFL moved to confirm that the 2020 version would not be played.
“Due to the current circumstances, the International Rules Series scheduled for this year has been postponed,” said an AFL spokesperson.
“At an appropriate time, we will work with the GAA on potentially resuming the series in the coming years.”
The postponement now leaves the immediate future of a beleaguered series up in the air.
