DONEGAL captain Michael Murphy has urged the county to continue to row in behind the various voluntary groups who are delivering hot meals to the elderly and others in need.
Communities right across Donegal have rallied during the Covid-19 lockdown in real shows of community spirit.
Donegal’s various branches of ChefAid have already delivered thousands of meals.
GoFundMe pages for groups have raised almost €40,000, ensuring that their services can keep going.
Amid uncertainty as to the length of time the lockdown will last, Murphy has appealed for further donations.
“A massive well done so far to all the volunteers and the chefs,” the Glenswilly man said.
“It is a fantastic cause to provide hot meals for all those in need during this tough time.
“It’s important to keep this up. It does require a bit of finance in these hard times and there is a GoFund Me page set up.
“If anyone can donate to keep this brilliant cause alive. Fair play to you, keep up the good work.”
