A FURTHER 13 deaths from the Covid-19 virus have been confirmed in Ireland.
Nine of the deaths are in the east of the country with three in the west and one in the south. Ten of the 13 were reported to have underlying medical conditions.
Ireland’s death toll from the coronavirus now stands at 98 with the median age of those 82.
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has revealed an increase of 402 new confirmed cases with 3,849 cases now having been confirmed.
The 402 new cases mean that today’s is the largest daily rise in Ireland since the outbreak.
There have been five more cases confirmed in Donegal, where the total cases is now 68.
Dr Tony Holohan confirmed that 932 people have been hospitalised with 134 of those admitted to intensive care. From the 134 ICU cases, 25 have been discharged. Some 109 patients remain in ICU.
On the island of Ireland, there have been a total of 134 deaths and 4,623 Covid-19 cases.
