CROWDS flocked to O’Donnell Park today as a local fruit and veg supplier today made use of stock that was otherwise going to be binned due to the coronavirus emergency.
With businesses across the country on shut-down, Liam Doherty of Sean Doherty and Sons Ltd in Letterkenny, found himself with a vast amount of stock that was surplus to requirements.
Rather than head ‘for the skip’, as was the alternative, Liam – also known as a popular rally driver – decided to avoid a mass amount of wastage and, with the help of his cousin and St Eunan’s GAA club member Ciaran Haran, the novel plan was hatched.
The stock went on sale at cost price between 12-2pm today at O’Donnell Park, St Eunan’s home ground.
Social distancing measures and standard hygiene protocols were in place to ensure the safety of the customers.
