THE COVID-19 shutdown means they couldn’t gather in person – but Seamus Coleman and Everton have still marked World Down Syndrome Day.
Today is World Down Syndrome Day – an annual global awareness event focused on the condition which advocates for the rights, inclusion and wellbeing of people with Down syndrome.
Last year, Coleman and Yerry Mina enjoyed a kick-around with the Everton in the Community Down Syndrome football team at USM Finch Farm.
“They’re an example to us all,” Coleman said.
“You see kids like this who maybe aren’t as fortunate, but you see them still smiling. It’s a lesson to us all; through good and bad to stay positive.
“We’ve got to help each other along the way. We’re in it together and leave no-one behind – that should be a motto for everyday life.”
