Dancing with the Stars finalist Grainne Gallanagh is set to return to nursing to help during the Coronavirus crisis.
The Buncrana nurse and model (25) revealed that she has answered the government’s call to arms and registered to join the health service.
A nursing graduate of LYIT, Gráinne had worked in women’s healthcare in London in recent years.
She said that she is now in the process of re-registering in Ireland to work for the HSE.
Just five days ago, Gráinne was entertaining the nation as she competed in RTÉ’s Dancing with the Stars Ireland final. The show ended a week early due to guidelines surrounding coronavirus, with presenter Lottie Ryan winning the Glitterball trophy this year.
Now, as a healthcare emergency grips Ireland, Gráinne said: “So I think it may be time hang up the dancing shoes and dawn the scrubs and gloves again.
“Having not worked as a nurse in Ireland for the last few years I am in the process of re registration to help do my bit in the current crisis.
“Sending so much love to all the healthcare staff that are already in the midst of all the chaos.”
Grainne is one of thousands of heroes who have answered Ireland’s call to serve the HSE during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Minister for Health Simon Harris launched the ‘Be on Call for Ireland’ campaign this week to draft in all healthcare professionals, retired workers, students and volunteers to the emergency.
So far, over 40,000 people have registered.
