Cancer Care West in Donegal has changed their support services to facilitate phone and online contact throughout the Covid-19 emergency.
Cancer Care West Donegal Support Centre in Letterkenny is closed at present to visitors.
However the team continues to welcome contact by phone and social media by cancer patients and their loved ones, particularly in these uncertain circumstances.
A statement said:
“We are very aware that this may cause significant inconvenience, but we feel it is necessary to safeguard the interest of people who use our centre, and also to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as far as possible.
“At present, we are offering remote counselling and support via video link or telephone counselling.
“What this means, is, if you have an existing appointment with the psychologist you will be contacted to arrange a counselling session remotely. If you do not have an existing appointment, but feel a consultation would be helpful, please do not hesitate to contact us.
“You can contact us via telephone on 074 960 1901 or via our Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/CancerCareWestSupportCentreDonegal/
“Our sessions are available to patients and their families. If you have never been to the Support Centre before please contact us on the above number and we will be happy to arrange a support session for you.
“We plan to re-open the centre as soon as possible and our services are being kept under constant review. We will provide updates on our Facebook sites as circumstances dictate.
“Thank you
“The Cancer Care West Donegal Team”
