A woman was left terrified after she came across a man breaking into her home in Letterkenny.
The intrusion happened around 2am on Friday morning last in the Glencar area.
The woman awoke and noticed a light in the kitchen which she had not left on.
When she went to investigate she noticed a man dressed in a black jacket crouched down.
She shouted at him and the intruder fled.
The woman was unhurt but very shaken by her traumatic ordeal.
The woman later noticed that a Nokia phone, a tablet with a yellow cover, some personal items and a small sum of cash was missing.
