The coronavirus didn’t cancel the party at Kavanagh’s Supervalu Dungloe today after a €1 million Lotto Plus 1 top prize win.
But instead of handshakes and sign-holding, the team took a careful approach to celebrate the success of a local punter.
The winning Quick Pick ticket has led one lucky person to become an instant millionaire after Wednesday’s draw.
While the winner has chosen to stay anonymous, the National Lottery has confirmed that they have already been in touch with Lotto HQ to make arrangements to collect their prize.
Donegal Daily revealed the identity of the shop which sold the winning ticket earlier today.
Liam McShea is manager of Kavanagh’s Supervalu in the Co Donegal town of Dungloe where the winning ticket was bought.
He said it’s great news for the local community.
He added “Honestly, this is just what everybody in Dungloe needed this week.
“It has of course been a very difficult time for the entire country with the coronavirus but this massive Lotto win has given the entire town of Dungloe something to talk about other than the dreaded virus!
“It’s incredible how the mood in the entire locality suddenly changes knowing that somebody in the area has become a millionaire overnight. It’s incredible.”
Liam continued: “€1 million is a huge amount of money but this will be absolutely life-changing for one lucky person in a small town like Dungloe.”
Meanwhile, the National Lottery have also reminded all Lotto players that an additional €1 million in prizes will be won in Saturday’s Lotto draws. On top of the massive €5.5 million (estimated) Lotto jackpot up for grabs this Saturday (March 14th) , there is an additional €1 million guaranteed extra prize money to be won with Saturday’s Lotto Plus draw.
