ANTHONY Gorman says his Letterkenny Rovers youths must take Saturday’s FAI Youth Cup defeat to Douglas Hall ‘on the chin’.
Rovers led 1-0, thanks to Kieran Tobin’s goal, but lost to the Cork side 3-1 in spite of a battling performance.
“There is no disgrace in losing to a team like Douglas Hall,” Gorman told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“I thought we were good in the first half. We deserved the lead and we could have had another goal. We couldn’t get out in the second half. We couldn’t believe how much the wind changed.”
Rovers recently saw Nathan Plumb, Adam Yissau and Jack Dwyer depart for Derry City Under-19s, but Gorman was offering no excuses.
He said: “There wasn’t much in it but over the game they deserved to win. It was always going to be difficult for us. We’re out of season and haven’t played. We just have to take it on the chin and move on.”
