LUKE Gavigan says a few choice words at half-time helped spur the Donegal Under-20s into the Ulster final.
Donegal got over the line 1-11 to 0-12 against Down in yesterday’s semi-final at The Loup. Having been locked at 0-5 apiece at half-time, a goal by Aaron Doherty and a super save by Ronan McGeehin at the other end booked a final berth.
“We were very poor in the first half,” Gavigan told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We rattled ourselves at half-time.
“Ronan McGeehin and Aaron Doherty stepped up and dragged us into the game.
“We hung in there in the first half and we were disappointed to be level at half-time. It was grim enough and a few choice words.
“We have a good record coming back and we were always confident at the same time.”
