Galway writer Bernie Crawford has been announced as the winner of the 2019 Aurivo / North West Words Poetry Competition.
The North West Words group hosts a popular poetry competition each year to celebrate original and previously unpublished poems.
This year, entries were received from all parts of Ireland and from as far as Germany, Australia, Nigeria and the USA.
The lucky winner was revealed on Thursday 30th January, with Bernie Crawford winning the perpetual Aurivo cup and €250.
Runner up was Brendan Kinane from Meath.
The competition was judged by Kate Newman from Summer Palace Press and readings on the night were from Joan Newman, Kate Newman and current NWW Junior Writer of the year Alannah Ferry.
