Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh TD has announced that a special needs base has been included in the new design for Gaelscoil na gCeithre Máistrí in Donegal Town.
Minister McHugh said he is delighted the school is being expanded.
“The Department of Education and Skills has worked closely with the school both in assessing the need for facilities for children with special needs and furthermore in the last few weeks to ensure that the school can immediately move into the next phase of the planning and design as the project is being expanded.
“Credit to principal Róisín Ní Chumhaill, Acting Principal Colmán Mac Cumhaill and their team for pursuing the extra facilities and it is a privilege to be the Minister who sees it progress,” he said.
Fine Gael general election candidate Councillor Martin Harley said this is great news for the school community.
“Credit to the school for seeking to ensure the best facilities for children with special needs and to the Government for supporting that,” he said.
Joe McHugh said the major project Gaelscoil na gCeithre Máistrí is now moving into the next stage of the detailed planning and design phase.
“This includes all the applications for planning permission, fire certs, disability assess and tender documents and I am delighted that this school building project is being expanded to include important provision for special needs,” he said.
