THE CYMS Senior Team make the long trip to Killarney, County Kerry to compete in the Premier section of the all Ireland Snooker Championships in the Gleneagles Hotel this week.
The team consisting of Phelim McClafferty, Adrian McFadden, Chris Gibbons, Gareth Kirwan and Chris Dolan were crowned all Ireland championship champions in 2018 and will be hoping to cope with the step up in class.
They have been drawn in a group of four which includes Roadstone A (Dublin), Liam Mellows (Wexford) and Cue Club A (Kerry).
The first game is on Thursday morning.
NORTHWEST PREMIER SNOOKER LEAGUE
On Monday night last the CYMS A team won 4-2 at home against 3c’s Limavady.
Phelim McClafferty won 2-0 while Adrian McFadden and Gareth Kirwan drew 1-1.
They currently are second in the league table eight points behind Dalys Var (Derry) but with six frames in hand.
In the individual leaderboard Phelim McClafferty is on top with an impressive 26 frames won out of 28 while Gareth Kirwan sits in sixth place, still in contention for a play-off place with the top eight to qualify for the quarter finals.
The B team had a satisfactory 3-3 draw away from home against Traceys B(Derry).
The ever-improving Roy Duffy had a great 2-0 victory while Chris Dolan secured the other point.
CYMS is situated across from the library on Oliver Plunkett Road and is open daily from 6pm -11-30pm..
Boasting 10 championship snooker tables and foursupreme pool tables for only €3 an hour for snooker and €4 for pool it’s the cheapest in the northwest.
Membership is €20 for seniors and €10 for U-18’s and over 55’s.
New members are always welcome.
