Donegal Senator Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has today reminded the Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael party leaders that it will be the people who decide the formation of the next government.
The Sinn Féin politician said it is the decisions of successive Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael governments that have created and deepened the worst crises we’ve seen in housing and health for a generation.
He said “Sinn Féin want to change that.
“Leo Varadkar and Micheál Martin cannot and will not dictate who will form the next government. That is a decision for the people.
“In government Sinn Féin will deliver the biggest council housing building programme in the history of the State, bring about real change in the health service, and give families and workers a break.”
He said that no family should have to pay a second mortgage in childcare fees or for providing their children with an education.
And he added “Sinn Féin policies can and will make a real difference to people’s lives. We are the party that stands up for workers and families, that champions fairness and that works hard in our communities every day to build a better Ireland.
“We are the only party with a chance to make a real impact against the establishment politics of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil in the next election, and we will demonstrate that throughout the upcoming election campaign.”
