Donegal-based businessman Peter Casey has confirmed that he will stand in the upcoming general election.
The former Presidential and European Parliament candidate confirmed to the Irish Independent that he will run in the Donegal constituency.
An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said he has decided on an election date, but would not reveal it until later this week. Speculation has risen over a February election after Varadkar said ‘circumstances have changed’ since he stated his May 2020 plans.

Casey said he will be focusing his campaign on the need for investment in rural Ireland.
He added that he is not in politics for the money and believes Donegal voters will back him and “send a strong message to the rest of the country and established parties by punishing candidates who have failed to deliver during the past four years.”
