Many of Donegal’s best-known female musicians will be coming together virtually this January 3rd to ensure the continued success of their Nollaig na mBán show.
The Wild Atlantic Women and friends are overcoming the barriers of the pandemic to launch Nollaig na mBán, Little Women’s Christmas, online.
The show will be streamed on Facebook (Wild Atlantic Women Donegal) and YouTube https://youtu.be/JHiCyg2qUCM from 1pm Sunday 3rd January to raise funds for Donegal Hospice.
Starting with a look back on projects in 2020, the “Wild Atlantic Women 2021, Cosy at Home by the Fire” show will broadcast worldwide online from 5pm.
The line-up features top artists such as Margo O’Donnell, Cherish The Ladies, The Henry Girls, the Screaming Orphans, WAW founder Brí Carr and many many more. Áine Ní Churráin and Karen Murphy will MC the event from their homes.
The Wild Atlantic Women group comprises many talented women of the north west who have been connected by a love of music and heritage. They launched the Wild Atlantic Women ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ CD for the Donegal Hospice in 2018. As time goes by, with over €1550 raised so far by their music, the WAW were disappointed they couldn’t go live at An Grianan Theatre or in Amharclann Gaoth Dobhair as planned.
Sunday will be the group’s first online concert of 2021. From folk to country, traditional to modern, many styles of performance will be enjoyed throughout the evening. Make sure to set a reminder and don’t miss out on this special celebration of local talent.
