Donegal student and tractor enthusiast Caitlín Mc Gonigle has been chosen for another mighty adventure in her Massey Ferguson.
The 18-year-old has signed up to do a London-Mayo tractor run next year for charity.
The thought of a six day journey in a 1961 Massey Ferguson 35x (without a cab) doesn’t faze young Caitlín because a passion for tractors is in her blood.
Caitlín’s grandfather Paddy Duffy sadly passed away in December 2018. The Greencastle man was a true tractor enthusiast and he left his restored Massey Ferguson to Caitlín.

Caitlín completed a Dublin to Mayo Tractor Run in memory of Paddy in April, and the success of that journey has inspired the Carndonagh Community School student to go to even greater lengths.
The London to Mayo run, which launched this weekend, will take place in April 2020. Caitlín will be travelling alongside ten men, including Donegal natives Richard Doherty and Ciaran Rodgers, on the charity adventure for the Daisy Lodge centre for children with cancer in Mayo.
Caitlín said it was an honour to be invited on the extreme run and she jumped at the opportunity.
Again, she will be thinking of her grandad Paddy as she prepares to get on the road.
“Grandad had a big impact on my life and it’s so nice to be able to give back in this way,” Caitlín said.

Caitlín raised a fantastic €6,500 ahead of her first tractor run this year, and she has set a goal to go beyond that in 2020.
