Despite leading for most of this top of the table clash, LYIT just fell short in this away game to leaders Ballincollig.
The Donegal side looked at half-time like their long journey south was going to be worthwhile as they led 50-35.
But the Cork side, led by 26 pointer Ronan O’Sullivan stuck to their task and eventually edged their noses in front.
Manny Payton tried his best to claw it back with 21 points but it wasn’t enough.
Ballincollig eventually came out on top on a scoreline of 87 to 83.
The focus now for LYIT is on their huge National Cup Quarter Final next Saturday at 6pm against Tolka Rovers at the LYIT campus.
