‘Untapped potential’ lies in scenic walk outside Letterkenny

Funding is being sought to develop a walking trail on a popular path from New Mills to Kirkneely outside Letterkenny.

Cllr Ciaran Brogan told the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District council this week that “untapped tourism potential” lies in the old road, which boasts amazing views.

“An awful lot of people in that area are doing an awful lot of walking,” Cllr Brogan said.

“This is a huge opportunity for development and for some small monies, it would be a very attractive walking route going forward.”

Cllr Brogan added that he hoped his motion would attract the necessary funding to include the route in Donegal’s walking trails in the future.
