RAYMOND Shields certainly wasn’t getting ahead of himself last night after his Donegal League side scored a narrow win over Inishowen League.
“I think overall we probably deserved the 2-1 victory,” Shields told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“Inishowen have got their goal and have something to fight for in the second leg.
“Tonight was a typical Donegal-Inishowen encounter. There are never many goals.”
The Donegal League had McHugh sent off and Shields says he will consider the options with regards an appeal.
John Gerard McLaughlin’s goal means that Inishowen remain firmly in the tie.
Shields said: “They’ll be very tough to beat in Buncrana. We know fine rightly, we’re 2-1 up and it’s half-time, but we have to go to Maginn Park and do a job down there as well.
“We will be under no illusions going up there. We have a lead to protect so it’s up to us to do that.”
