A concerned member of the public in Donegal is keen to return an eagle to its rightful home after it was spotted in their garden when they were feeding their hens – it has emerged.
It is unknown where the eagle came from before it was safely captured in Manorcunningham this morning (Weds) at around 8am.
It is understood that a resident in the south Inishowen area was feeding their hens when she discovered the eagle.
The eagle, which has been described as large in size, has since been placed in a cage in an effort to find its rightful owners.
Anne Blake, who contacted Donegal Daily about the missing bird, said: “The eagle is now safe and has been placed in a cage by a member of staff at La Maison in Letterkenny.
“The bird remains in Manorcunningham and we are not sure who we can contact to get the bird back to safety.
“It was very dirty, it looked to be covered in mud, and Sylvia, who caught the bird, believes it may have been there since last night (Tues).”
