CIARAN DOWDS hopes yesterday’s U21 ‘C’ final win over Naomh Colmcille can act as a spur for Burt.
The Hibernian men had a 3-10 to 0-9 win over the neighbours at O’Donnell Park to win the silverware.
“It’s good to get over the line and get the hands on a bit of silverware,” Dowds told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“Finals don’t come around too often. We earmarked a final when we started off. We just asked the boys for four or five weeks of commitment.
“We got two soft goals, but you take them on days like this.”
It had been Naomh Colmcille who began the brighter and led 0-4 to 0-3 before a fortuitous Mark McElhinney goal swung the tie in Burt’s favour.
Dowds said: “After 15 or 20 minutes, they put it up to us and there was a bit of head-scratching on the sideline.”
