ANN Marie McGlynn set a new personal best today at the 40th Dublin Marathon.
Letterkenny AC’s McGlynn finished in two hours, 32 minutes and 54 seconds to set a new Donegal record and a significant new personal marker.
Today’s time by McGlynn was the sixth fastest ever time by an Irish woman in the marathon. The time improved around seven minutes on her previous best time from earlier in the year in the Netherlands.
The Dublin Marathon also acts as the National Championships.
And McGlynn was the second Irish woman home, after Eagle AC’s Aoife Cooke in 2:32:34. Overall, McGlynn was ninth in the standings.
Moth Gedefa from Ethiopia was the outright women’s winner in 2:27:48.
Some 22,500 participants took part in the event.
