LETTERMACAWARD’S Carl McHugh made a stunning start to life in the Indian Super League with a cracking goal – but his new side lost out in their season opener.
McHugh volleyed home a brilliant goal to put ATK ahead against Kerela Blasters.
McHugh signed for ATK – the former club of Irish legend Robbie Keane – in the summer after three years at Motherwell, whom he captained in the 2017/18 season.
The 26-year-old is a former Republic of Ireland under-21 international and his super strike was ATK’s 100th goal in the Indian Super League.
However, new signing Bartholomew Ogbeche scored twice for Kerela Blasters before half-time at a packed Nehru Stadium. The Nigerian bagged a memorable goal of his own.
McHugh and ATK will be at home to Hyderabad on Friday.
