RONAN DOHERTY scored one of the goals as Cliftonville overcame Linfield in an excellent County Antrim Shield quarter-final last night.
The former Cockhill Celtic man netted just before half-time when he finished well after combining with Ryan Curran on the edge of the box.
Doherty made a move to Cliftonville in the summer from Institute following an excellent first season in the Irish League.
Ex-Finn Harps attacker Curran doubled the Cliftonville lead, but they needed penalties to advance after Dale Taylor and Kirk Millar netted late goals for the Blues.
Curran was successful with one of the penalties as Cliftonville won 4-3.
