Having encouraged customers to donate old and unused glasses in aid of Vision Aid Overseas since opening in 2016, Specsavers Donegal Town is delighted to announce they have now collected 1,000 frames.
Vision Aid Overseas work in locations across Ghana, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Zambia to ensure that everyone, regardless of their gender, economic status and geographical location, has access to affordable eye care services and glasses.
Without affordable eye care services, people living with poor eyesight often leave their condition untreated which can make their eyesight worse. If left untreated for long enough, it can lead to permanent blindness.
Since opening three years ago, staff and customers of Specsavers Donegal Town have donated 1,000 pairs of spectacles to Vision Aid Overseas.
Store director at Specsavers Donegal Town, Eddie Dolan, said: “The main aim of Vision Aid Overseas is to help visually impaired people in under-served areas reach their full potential.
“Many people have old glasses lying around at home with an out-of-date prescription that is no longer being used. These unwanted glasses can be used by those in need.”
Dolan added: “I would like to extend my gratitude to staff and customers of Specsavers Donegal Town who have shown their support for this worthy charity over the years and helped us to donate an amazing 1,000 frames, which will make a huge difference.”
