MATT GALLAGHER was proud of his Naomh Bríd players as they pushed St Naul’s all the way in Saturday’s Intermediate Championship semi-final.
The Ballintra men, who played the closing stages with 14 men, were pipped by a point at Fintra.
Gallagher believes that his team will take great heart from their endeavours in 2019.
“I’m very proud of the lads,” the 1992 All-Ireland winner told Ocean FM’s Paddy McGill.
“We gave it a great battle, especially when we went down to 14 men. I thought we were going to pull it out of the fire.
“It was a positive year, no doubt. That’s a great credit to the players and the club officers.
“We have a good tight club. We’re fielding two teams as best we can.We have a fine group of players and I hope that we can kick on from here and maybe next year we can get promotion.

He said: “I didn’t see there was much contact and I thought the ref’ was every pernickety and fussy on a very difficult pitch. It was a really, really difficult pitch.
