A SPIRITED comeback from Ardara wasn’t enough as Dungloe managed to hold onto their senior championship lives in Fintra.
Dungloe 3-9 Ardara 2-10
At one stage with 20 minutes to go, Dungloe led 3-6 to 0-5 after Jason McBride and Hugh Moy netted goals following a first-half goal from a penalty by Moy.
But Ardara kicked, as if affronted by the mere suggestion that they were going to settle for such a scoreline.
Gareth Concarr slapped home a goal and Jack Sweeney drilled past Danny Rogers. Ardara hit 2-4 in a purple patch, but Dungloe dug deep.
Moy’s penalty had Dungloe 1-6 to 0-4 in front at half-the.
Ardara were without a host of senior players including CJ Molloy, Paddy McGrath, Conor Classon, Shane O’Donnell and Niall McCrossan, but they did get hope with the manner of their fight in the second half – and they’ll need every inch of it against Malin next weekend.
