The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul requires a Regional Housing Officer based in the North-West.
The prime purpose of the role is to ensure the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul’s Social Housing units are managed and administered to the highest standards, and remain in compliance with national standards, regulations and best practice.
The ideal candidates will possess the following:
o Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in the field of Social Sciences, Social Care, public sector administration or related area.
o Have a recent and relevant qualification in Social Housing/ Housing Administration e.g. ICSH/CIH/IAVI
o Recently completed a ECDL / Office administration/ CRM & Data base qualification
o Knowledge & understanding of history, challenges and current regulations as they relate to Social & Voluntary housing sector in Ireland.
o Knowledge of housing law and tenancy agreements
o Current national standards, regulations and environment in which Voluntary Housing is provided.
o Knowledge of needs and issues relating top Special Needs Housing and/or vulnerable people.
o Knowledge of the technical aspects of void, rent, repairs maintenance
o Knowledge of computer packages Database & Office administration e.g. Microsoft office CRM
o Information management, Data Protection and Confidentiality.
o A knowledge and appreciation of the Society, its ethos, mission and values.
o Three years’ experience working in the Social and/or Voluntary Housing sector.
o Extensive experience of working with volunteers, committees and boards.
o Experience of working in a residential property orientated environment
o Experience working with Management Companies & Agents
o Experience of working with a wide range of people who are: vulnerable, homeless, elderly, low income households
o Financial appreciation and budget management skills
o Listening Skills.
o Interpersonal & Communication Skills.
o Ability to write reports, policies, briefing notes and statutory submissions.
o Ability to build rapport and trust with Volunteers, Tenants and other staff.
o Ability to work on own initiative.
o Highly developed administration skills, (office, spreadsheets, CRM, Database admin etc.)
o Mediation and Conflict resolution – ability to de-escalate emerging conflicts.
o Empathy, Compassion & a commitment to the principles of Social Justice.
o Ability to influence and motive others.
o Full driving licence.
o Must have access to transport
